This first year of Latin will give the student a firm foundation in the fundamental concepts of the language.  As one would expect in a first year language course, the emphasis is on the parts of speech – in particular, nouns, pronouns, and adjectives. This Level One book begins with an excellent introduction (why study Latin, the various ways to learn a foreign language, and the various schools of Latin pronunciation). The text then moves on to nouns: the concepts of Latin nouns (case, number, gender, stems, and inflections). The focus then turns to an in-depth study of the five declensions.   After this, nouns, pronouns and adjectives are covered in much the same systematic way.

‎This Level One Latin book is full of edifying passages and examples pertaining to the Catholic Faith, good literature, and interesting topics.  It also contains many sentence diagramming examples, which are critical for proper thinking and analysis. 

This is a course for which we highly recommend enrollment in Angelic Doctor Academy, since with a subject like Latin, the student must complete many exercises in order to get a grip on the language. This means countless hours of corrections for the parent. We can grade all these exercises, allowing you to help the student with concepts.
