This is a short and easy-to-read novel in inspiring historical fiction style, about the great naval Battle of Lepanto in 1571 and the events and Moslem barbarism which led up to it.   It is written from the perspective of the main character, a teenage Venetian boy named Guido Callatta.  Guido dreams of fighting the Turks and saving his country from the daily atrocities of the infidel Moslems on mainland Europe as well as along the seacoasts of Italy, France, and Spain.  Nobody is safe and no family has escaped losing a loved one.  In response, Pope St. Pius V and the great King Philip II of Spain create the Holy League – a navy consisting of Spanish, Italian, and German forces.  Guido’s dreams of fighting the Turks become a reality, as his father – at his own expense – outfits a ship, whose crew – including Guido – perform great deeds as part of the great victorious Catholic fleet…

‎The critical sea battle of Lepanto gave us the names of great heroes every Catholic student should have memorized: Pope St. Pius V, King Philip II of Spain, Don Juan of Austria, Sebastian Venerio of Venice, and Marco Antonio Colonna of Rome.  The rosary played a great part in the tremendous victory which saved Catholic Europe from an almost certain takeover by the cult of Islam.
